Several museums welcome you permanently in Colmar.
Housed in a former convent and in a new wing created by the architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron, the new Unterlinden museum presents many Alsatian curiosities, including the famous Issenheim altarpiece by Mathias Grünewald. The very architecture of the place is worth the detour. Guided tours of the museum on request at the Tourist Office.
